School Info

Thank you for considering being a host to our non-profit organization. workcamp NE seeks schools that are willing to house our group for one or more weeks in the summer. Below are the reasons we desire schools and what you may need to know in making a decision.

Reasons for seeking a school facility are:

-Classrooms to be used as sleeping quarters (campers use air mattresses on floors)

-Office area (centrally located)

-Nurse's infirmary (or area for us to set up our camp nurse)

-Showers

-Cafeteria space and kitchen facilities

-Auditorium/gymnasium for evening program

How we work with you

workcamp NE has been in and around schools for many years. Rest assured we have been successful in working around summer camps, summer school and cleaning schedules (we realize the time is short to strip/rewax classrooms, conduct repairs, repaint, etc.). Our attitude is, we are invited guests, and we treat your staff and property in a most respectful way.

We come fully self-sufficient, and knowledgeable in the following areas, however, we are well aware that many administrators are more comfortable when one of their staff members are involved. In these cases, we will compensate the following school personnel for overseeing our activities:

Kitchen facilities

While partnering in your community, we ask that our stay be complimentary. In saying this, usage fees to cover paper products, extra dumpster scheduling, etc., are paid for by workcamp NE . However, if facility usage fees are necessary to collect, we ask to negotiate a comprehensive weekly rate. Whenever a school waives any additional fees, ALL MONIES saved by us goes directly back to the residents of your community whose homes we work on.

Our schedule

-Set up takes place on Friday prior to arriving campers.

-Camp runs Sunday afternoon through Saturday morning.

-We work around all athletic/summer school schedules.

-During the day a “skeleton crew” remains behind at school to run camp. From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. all the crews are at jobsites.

-Camp is fully insured and includes the name of the facility on the policy.

-References are fully available upon request.

-150-300 people could be in attendance each week. Ratio of adults to student campers is 1 to 5. Our capacity is subject to your authorization.

-All adults are required to have background safety checks.

-All campers (adult/student) are required to carry medical insurance.
