The camp is open to all teens entering the 9th grade, college-aged students and adult volunteers.
workcampNE exists to provide assistance in the way of minor home repairs to the elderly, disabled and under-resourced. Campers provide all the labor and workcampNE provides all the materials and tools at NO cost to the homeowner. Our volunteers will repair/replace: windows, doors, siding, wheel-chair ramps and shallow pitched roofs. We will scrape and paint and even sheet rock a room. We aim to make life more safe and comfortable for the resident. One of our main objectives is to allow people the chance to remain in their own homes long after they are capable of handling repairs themselves.
A brief history of workcampNE shows its birth in 1989 as a ministry striving to bring teen and college-aged students together with people in need. What started as a few adult sponsors and 17 students traveling to a couple of job sites has blossomed into a camp that currently spans two weeks, provides housing and service opportunities for over 350 individuals working on as many as 46 different houses. workcampNE has traveled to all six New England states, New York and New Jersey.
